OpenWind is an open source software application used to model wind farms. Users are able to design wind farms, including wind turbine layout and electrical design. Energy production, turbine noise levels, turbine wake losses, and turbine suitability can be calculated.
OpenWind is being developed by AWS Truepower, a wind power consulting company. It is free to download and use until AWS Truepower was acquired by UL in 2016. OpenWind is now commercial software, see price at
